Thoughts on Soldiers Under Command by Stryper

Soldiers Under Command is a 1980’s Christian heavy metal song performed by Stryper. The lyrics talk about soldiers under God’s command and are, in a way, asking us to recruit as God’s soldiers.

Here are the lyrics:

You can check out the original version or the cover version (e.g. Ken Tamplin) of the song on YouTube.

To tell you the truth, I like this song and I believe that I can take this seriously as it tells us what being a soldier under God’s command is about (fighting sins and winning the battle, according to the Good Book). I can tell that the band was serious about this song but were also having fun with it, seeing as it IS a heavy metal song (that doesn’t require screaming while blind with rage).

I have to say that the entire song gives off a sort of Power Rangers feel to it, if you know what I mean. Seeing as Bibleman came out in the 1990’s, I feel as if maybe, just maybe, it would have been nice to have the producer and director of the show ask permission from Stryper to use their song for two things: the vocal version for the intro and the instrumental version for the fight scenes. I know that Bibleman and his crew are not soldiers, in particular, but they are fighting under God’s rule, so to me it does make some sort of sense to include the song into the show.
