What He Has to Say is a heavy metal rock song from the musical, Genius: Rock Opera. It tells us about King Oddyfer and his curiosity with the protagonist, Genius, while his guardians tell him that the human is not to be trusted. This musical is not like any other musical, where it shows us what all the characters look like, so we’ll just have to use our imagination.

To be honest, if I didn’t know what the song was about (from having listened to a sample of it), I would have assumed that it was about a teen boy or a man put on trial for his crimes, where one side wants to put him to death, while the other side wants to spare him from death (I mistook Johnny Gioeli’s line ‘please let him in’ for ‘please let him live’).
Before the song starts playing, we learn that Oddyfer was obsessed with odd numbers (I wonder if he would go insane if his age was an even number) and wants to hear what Genius has to say, despite one of his guardians – whose singing voice, to me, sounds like the singing voice of a teen/young adult Scar from the Lion King (which is never shown in the movie itself) – telling him otherwise.
The guardian informs his Majesty of Genius’ presence and Oddyfer insists that (without fear) he will listen to the human’s statement. When Genius arrives, he explains all the events he could remember and blames himself for what happened to the McChaos King, but Oddyfer disbelieves him and orders the guardians to take him to jail (either Genius is really lying, or the King is an idiot).
Overall I am OK with this song, as it tells us what is happening between Oddyfer, his guardians and Genius. It’s quite catchy, very powerful and very melodic; plus it focusses on Genius and Oddyfer’s points of view, considering what happened. However, it does kind of sound like something you would hear in a Disney/Dreamworks animated movie. And I do believe if that Scar in his teens or young adult years sang, it would sound like the suspicious guardian when he sings.
